Hi, I'm Luke - a principal consultant at The SERO Group where we provide DBA Team as a service to clients. Over the past 20 years, this practice has helped me develop skills in:• • (DNS, DHCP, etc.)• (Administration, Security Hardening, Backup/Recovery, High Availability)• (Ansible, PowerShell, Desired State Configuration, T-SQL)• • (ETL, SSIS)• and (Azure)I found that when you combine SQL Server and Automation, you can scale tremendously as a DBA. However, there was a problem: limited information on using Ansible to manage and configure SQL Server on Windows.To fill this gap, I’m developing the course series. These courses aim to provide practical guidance, tools, and hands-on experience for automating SQL Server administration tasks on Windows platforms using Ansible.My automation work includes the following:• Developing Ansible playbooks and roles for automated deployment and configuration of SQL Server instances, including high availability setups.• Building Ansible Tower (now Ansible Automation Platform) surveys and workflows to support self-service SQL Server instance and database provisioning.• Combining PowerShell Desired State Configuration with Ansible to maintain consistent server configurations.• Streamlining sandbox creation, testing, and deployment workflows using Infrastructure as Code methodologies.I’m passionate about sharing knowledge and teaching others automation practices to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and get more done.
