About Luke Clay

During my time at DHL/JLR I was training to become a First Line Manager and this has given me all the key skills to lead a successful team. I looked after a span of control of 20 staff, I would plan where best to deploy my staff to utilize all their skills to make sure we reached and exceeded our daily targets, I man managed my staff making sure they was hitting their KPI's and following Health and Safety while in the warehouse. Each day I would have 1-2-1's with my staff to see if they had any Continuous Improvement ideas, any training and in general how they was doing on shift. Being a Performance Coach helped me to gain team building skills, I would have 4-5 staff each week in the meeting room and we could go through company policy's, processes and any new changes on site, I engaged all the staff as I know this could of been tedious for some people so making it as fun as possible was key. My current role as the Operation Management System coordinator has taught me to make sure I'm accurate first time and gather the information as soon as possible. I work directly with senior management so they need information as fast as possible and as accurate as possible. Time management is key for me with attending meetings, making sure I have figures for senior management meetings and gathering information for department managers so they can relay back to their staff. Having dealt with huge company's and gained the customers respect, my communication skills have to be excellent to ensure a smooth running and management of all requests and issues the customer may have. My time at JLR was very customer orientated being in constant communication with them. Dealing with pallets of car parts coming in and out the building each month meant we had to communicate accurately with the customer to ensure they received their parts on time and not damaged. I have excellent computer skills on all Microsoft products and very skilled on warehouse management systems.
