During my twenty years of poultry farming, eighteen months as an assistant manager/ relief stockman and then eighteen plus years to date as a farm manger on two different sites. I have learnt and honed the skills required for the day to day running of a farm and all this entails from the bird area to the office, staff and contractor management and more. As well as gaining a very good knowledge of poultry rearing and bird management skills I have been in the position to train people, some of whom are now managers themselves. Along side the daily running of a farm I have undertaken annual Red Tractor audits including IPPC and in house audits which include Avian Influenza, bio security, hygiene audits and health and safety plus many more. I achieved a level 2 NVQ prior to poultry farming in game keeping and later achieved my level 3 NVQ in Poultry production and stockman ship whilst managing my first farm. I also have a full and up to date poultry passport.
