About Luke Morris

Currently I work in a gym-based environment, in this role I deliver fitness classes as well as giving personal training session to members, ranging from able bodies to those with additional needs. Here I have excelled in member engagement, developing a strong repour with both my colleagues and members alike so that I can deliver the best service available, and although only being in the trust for four years, my desire for development and growth has seen outstanding feedback, full classes and articles in papers relating to how I have helped members change their lives. Whilst maintaining this job I also study at university, although not directly related to campaigning I study Sport Development with Coaching. This course has given me a strong foundation in a career pathway in changing society, looking at how to plan events, break down and critique policy documents, and using various methods from presentations to creating video documentation to engage different audiences. My time at university has developed my critical thinking, understanding that ideologies need to be backed by credible sources, and it was here where I transitioned to veganism. I have based several assignments on how sports impact the environment, including how the food ethos pushes for a greater consumption of animal products, and for my dissertation I am looking at how vegans are treated in a rugby (due to it being a predominantly hegemonic masculine sport). Even with maintaining a job I have entered my final semester on track to achieve a first degree.
