About Luke Testa

Dr Luke Testa is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science, Australian Institute of Health Innovation. He is passionate about health equity and improving health services for people who experience health disparities. Dr Testa has expertise in mixed methods research, systematic reviews, implementation science and program evaluation. He holds a PhD in Health Innovation, a Master of Public Health with distinction and a Master of Research. His PhD research involved partnering with a geriatric outreach program to examine factors influencing hospital service use by unwell aged care facility residents. This research evaluated an innovative model of care that delivered hospital services to residents in their homes and found significant reductions in hospital length of stay and treatment costs associated with residents treated by the geriatric outreach program. Dr Testa's current work focuses on codesigning emergency department models of care to reduce outcome inequality for different groups of people.
