About Luke Towell

With over 10 years of software engineering experience, I'm passionate about solving hard problems and delivering value. Most recently I've been exploring how AI can transform internal processes, developing applications using AWS Bedrock, LLMs, and vector databases. I also recently completed my AWS AI Practitioner certification. The main technologies that I like to work with are- & : Researching and developing AI systems with Anthropic Claude, AWS Bedrock and Bedrock Knowledge Bases: My preferred cloud platform is AWS. Services that I have the most experience with include ECS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, RDS and CloudWatch: I prefer not to be limited to one language or framework and consider myself somewhat of a polyglot. My current stack includes NextJS, Python, Django REST Framework and Wagtail CMS, though I've been exploring Vite recently: I'm a huge fan of hands-on leadership. I'm happiest working alongside the team, coaching and mentoring while moving tickets across the board. As a tech lead, I'm comfortable leading meetings and discussions to maximise value. I'm currently building a Document Creation Agent that streamlines bid proposal generation and FAQ automation, reducing manual effort and improving response times for enterprise clients. The solution leverages AWS Bedrock, FAISS vector storage, and Langchain to enable context-aware document generation. I'm also part of the development team for the national UKHSA data dashboard, ensuring accurate processing and visualisation of critical health data across the UK. In my personal time I enjoy reading and typically alternate between fiction and non-fiction. I just finished "Magician" by Raymond E. Feist and I'm currently reading "The Manager's Path" by Camille Fournier - my non-fiction book of the month. When I'm not working or reading, I try to get outside running, camping or hiking. I'm aiming to complete an iron-distance triathlon in 2026, so let's see how that goes.
