About Luke Wassermann

As an audiologist with a global outlook, I want to bring hearing health care to places domestic and international where people with hearing problems struggle to receive services that can help them overcome hearing loss as a barrier to success and personal fulfillment. After a very interesting and rewarding career as a music recording engineer and documentary film producer, which took me to Southeast Asia and all over Africa, I returned to the United States to earn a Doctorate in Clinical Audiology (Au.D.). During my time at University of South Florida, I had clinical rotations with pediatric and adult patients, hearing aid users, cochlear implant users, and patients suffering from tinnitus, dizziness, and vertigo. I discovered that I enjoy all aspects of audiology: everything from the delicate removal of impacted earwax to programming of cochlear implants to analyzing electrophysiological responses of the auditory and vestibular systems. My professional audiology career started in Hawaii, at a private ENT office, where I was fortunate to perform a diverse set of clinical tasks and serve countless wonderful patients ranging from 2 to 102 years of age on the windward side of Oahu. I'm proud of the work I did during my 3.5 year tenure, which included developing unique, evidence-based clinical protocols tailored to the diagnostic equipment that was available to me. I participated in the Veterans Affairs Community Care program and the State of Hawaii Med-Quest program. In my previous career as a freelance recoding engineer, I recorded a wide range of Western classical music, and traditional cultural music from around the globe. In my own productions, I tried to present authentic representations of little-known music cultures in a way which would make them accessible to a wider audience. As an independent contractor, I tried to surpass my clients' expectations with professional services that were sensitive to their musical goals at affordable rates. My expertise was in high fidelity, multitrack on-location recording for a reasonable budget in remote places where there is no regular electricity supply.
