About Luuk Stellinga

I am currently working as a PhD researcher in the field of philosophy and ethics of artificial intelligence at Wageningen University and Research. I am a member of the ELSA lab 'AI for Sustainable Food Systems,' a project that works towards developing AI for the agri-food industry with attention to its ethical, legal, and societal aspects. In my research I contribute to this project by developing a philosophical perspective on human-AI relations, as such exploring how AI systems impact us in various ways. One of the notions that fascinates me most in the context of our ELSA lab is the phrase 'human-centered AI.' What does it mean to center humans? What should "human" even mean here? And what about non-humans? These questions inspire my research, not only in terms of what I write, but also which bodies of work I engage with. I hope to explore connections between the philosophy of technology, philosophical anthropology and philosophy of ecology, and bring all of those themes together through the case of AI in agri-food.
