About Luyando Mweene

I’ve always believed in the power of learning to open minds, shift perspectives, and create real change. Growing up in Zambia, my curiosity about the world started early, fueled by a globe my mother bought me when I was nine. Even though that globe is long gone, the mindset it sparked has never left me. I’m passionate about international development, especially when it connects global thinking with the realities and potential of marginalized communities back home. I care deeply about helping Zambians, especially young people, see themselves as part of a bigger story while working to build progress right where they are. My work, values, and goals are all shaped by a desire to help others grow. Whether I’m leading a project, telling a story, or just having a conversation, I bring curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to building something that matters. I’m still figuring out the best ways to tell my story and share my work, but one thing is clear: I’m here for the long game, and I believe we rise by lifting others.
