About Lwin Lwin Aung

Ms. Lwin Lwin Aung or Lwin Myat Noe, a Myanmar citizen, is equipped with diverse education backgrounds, with outstanding manners. She received an Australian Leadership Awards Scholarship and graduated with a PhD in Economics from Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University in December 2016. She got a scholarship from Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program, earned a MSc from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand in 2005, and received the James A. Linen Memorial Prize (the 103 Batch) in recognition of her outstanding academic performance in the field of Regional and Rural Development Plaining. In 1993, she obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture from the Yezin Agricultural University (Institute of Agriculture) in Myanmar, and worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation for more than 10 years in Myanmar. Moreover, she works as a consultant or for different positions for various projects of international organizations such as the World Bank Group, UN agencies, Local and International NGOs, and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the Government Agencies such as Ministry of Commerce (MoC), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI) in Myanmar for more than 15 years. She is also Freelance Researcher/Teaching Fellow/Training Expert for the various projects of UN agencies, Local and International NGOs, and Non-profit Higher Education Service Providers in Myanmar. She volunteers for lecturing the courses: Advanced Applied Economics and Development Economics for the students who have enrolled for Master of Economics for the 2023 intake at the Myanmar University of Social Science and Technology (MUST). Moreover, She has substantial experiences in supervising Household Surveys, Myanmar High-Frequency Phone Surveys for the COVID-19 impact on households, and the surveys for Pregnant and Lactating Women and mothers with children under 2 and 5. In addition, she and her PhD supervisor Professor Peter Warr have been working on research papers in economics. They published the papers: 1) Poverty and inequality impact of a natural disaster: Myanmar’s 2008 cyclone Nargis in World Development Journal in 2019; 2) Decomposing changes in inequality: Evidence from Myanmar in Review of Development Economics in 2020. She is also a co-author of 1) Implementing the World Trade Organisation Trade Facilitation Agreement in Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, Vietnam & Thailand: a baseline assessment; 2) Agricultural Value Chain Finance in Myanmar, and author of Self-Reliance Group Case Studies of UNDP Myanmar.
