About Lyall Bellquist

Rooted in my background of fishing, diving, and the outdoors, my research focuses broadly on interactions between people and the marine environment, with specific emphases on marine fisheries dynamics and bridging gaps between fishing communities and marine science and policy. Based in California, my goals are to fill gaps in our understanding of marine ecosystem functioning, and use the knowledge gained to maximize both human benefit and marine conservation. As a well organized and goal-oriented person, I value collaborative and creative approaches to problem solving. I work cooperatively across stakeholder groups, and I enjoy the sharing of ideas and information while working towards a common goal. I have strong management, field, analytical, public speaking, and writing skills that have helped me to progress in scientific research. I maintain high standards for all aspects of my work, and I'm always looking forward to the next steps!
