About Lydia Ramirez

I am a student currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health at California State University, Northridge. I am passionate about promoting equity in healthcare for women, immigrants, and people of color. I chose a career in public health because cannot ignore the structural inequalities keeping the people in my community sick. My experience as a health educator has helped me identify why health disparities are rooted so profoundly in vulnerable communities. Issues such as educational attainment, language barriers, and health literacy, combined with poor social conditions from which people grow, live, and work, all contribute to the systematic differences in their health outcomes. I aspire to continue working towards health equity and reproductive justice by working with organizations that positively impact underserved communities.
