Assesses and responds to existing and potential air environmental risks and determine, in consultation with appropriate stakeholders, necessary and appropriate remedial action and verify the implementation and success of remedial action Interprets scientific or laboratory reports pertaining to public health and initiates remedial action as appropriate. Identifies environmental health risks with clients and the public Designs and undertakes research, education, consultation, and referral activities and provides recommendations, guidance and suggestions to Medical Officers of Health (MOHs) and public health inspectors Consults with field inspectors, stakeholders, operators, clients, and the public on traditional, new, and innovative ways to address ambient and indoor air quality Assists in the development of local policies, procedures and protocols associated with air quality, sour gas emergency and other public health emergency preparedness (e.g. flood, wildfire, transportation incidents, etc.) Represents the health region and public health interests on a number of local and provincial multi-stakeholder groups/committees that deal with many air quality and public health emergency situation 1. Conducts research and provides scentific support in developing protocols and standard operational procedures for the field inspectors (i.e, Methane Guideline, Hedgehoge database, Mould Sampling Protocol etc, Indoor air lead and radon protocols, etc.) 2. Acts as lead for projects that are related to indoor or ambient air quality issues. Provides support to other colleagues working on the same project and ensures proper methodologies and measures are taken to protect public health 4. Provides technical support related to health impacts from indoor or ambient air pollutants to various committees/working groups internally
