Background

About Lynn Schramek

Lynn B. Schramek joined OESIS in 2014 to edit and design learning innovation reports and conference program booklets. Then she began arranging for partners to promote their innovative products and services at conferences and in publications. In 2017 she designed the OESIS-XP platform to bring conference and new webinar content online and began enrolling OESIS Network members in customized faculty professional development portals on Canvas. She designed pathway curriculum developed by OESIS Network Leaders for faculty cohorts. During the pandemic, she designed content for Intrepid Ed News to share global perspectives on transforming education and launched Intrepid+ Engaging Online Conferences. In 2009, Lynn initiated the Parkinson Café in upstate New York to provide social, cultural and intellectual interaction for people living with Parkinson's disease and their families. She obtained a federal trademark in 2013, and initiated a Parkinson Café Cultural Arts series in Sarasota, FL. Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson's contracted with Lynn to initiate a Parkinson Café series in Bradenton, FL in 2014, in St. Petersburg, FL in 2015, and New Port Richie, FL in 2017. Previously, Lynn provided PR and publications services as LBS Communications for two decades. Before that she was Director of Publications and Employee Communications at Corrections Corporation of America, the industry leader in private-sector corrections (where she promoted how programs enabled inmates who wanted to change to find a new lease on life). Before CCA, Lynn served as Public Information Officer at the Ohio Department of Education and was on the State Superintendent of Public Instruction's cabinet and executive committee. Lynn, who has been a professional communicator since 1976, was selected as Distinguished Communicator of the Year by the Columbus, Ohio, chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators in 1989 after serving as chapter president. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations. In 2011 Lynn, and her husband Brad, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2005 at age 45, were recognized by the Parkinson's Support Group of Upstate New York for their creative innovation and tireless efforts to improve the lives of people with Parkinson's disease. In 2017 Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's presented a Moments of Victory Award to Lynn and Brad at a Florida Victory Summit in recognition of their efforts to inspire others in the Parkinson's community.
