About Lynne Omalley

Following an extensive career in strength and conditioning and the health and fitness industry, I am a full-time staff member at the Centre for Sports Science and Human Performance. Completion of my Masters in Sports and Exercise Science has inspired me to continue investigating issues related to women's health and well-being with a focus on strength and conditioning. As a Principal Academic Staff Member, I am also the Programme Coordinator for the Certificate in Exercise. One of the papers I particularly enjoy teaching is the third-year SPHP704 Applied Exercise Programming paper. In addition, teaching the SPHP718 Community Nutrition and Health Promotion paper is both challenging and rewarding.Graduating from Otago University with a Bachelor of Science (Physiology major) and a Bachelor of Physical Education, managing a Womens' Health Centre - was a fantastic start to my career in this dynamic and exciting industry. After 3 1/2 years with the YMCA, it was time to explore further afield.Biking through Europe was one of the best things I have ever done and living in Ireland for two and a half years was a wonderful experience with many treasured memories, one of which was setting up the Exercise to Music Programme at the Galway City GymThey were exciting times when I returned home in 1989, starting my own business Lynne O'Malley & Associates, based at Redicare in Hamilton. Services offered were Personal Training, Corporate Health and Wellness programmes and Strength and Conditioning. After 1994 I was able to employ two Wintec students to assist with the work generated.
