About Lynne Thompson

I have been teaching both face-to-face and online for nearly 20 years with my main areas of interest being technology and the English Language. In the last few years, I moved my subject focus to teach English as a second language. From previous roles and experience in commerce and industry, I have developed specialist areas of Business English speaking and pronunciation. I worked for several years before 2010, in PA, secretarial, and sales support roles, mainly, in the sectors of Engineering, IT, and Finance. I am very passionate about ensuring my clients gain the correct knowledge and skills to achieve a productive business conversation, and have received emails from past clients, saying their business contact internationally has benefitted from my approach. Within my working experience of teaching and learning, technology has played an integral part in my delivery for many years. Beginning with slide creation and interactive presentations to structured monitoring and facilitating on a variety of e-learning platforms. For me, teaching via synchronous and asynchronous videos has been very fulfilling, as it has the opportunity for learners to observe and improve their performance at a time and learning pace of their choosing. There is a lot of good material on the Internet that second language learners can benefit from. I have made myself aware of a wide selection of apps that help develop speech and vocabulary, recommending them when I teach. Advancements in VR and AI in English language learning are also a research pursuit of mine.
