Background
About Lysa Flores
With over 10 years of experience in recruiting and talent acquisition, I am passionate about finding and developing the best talent for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, a dynamic and innovative cultural institution dedicated to celebrating the power of storytelling. As the Director of Talent Acquisition & Culture Partner, I oversee the strategic sourcing, hiring, and retention of diverse and qualified staff for all departments and levels of the organization, from curators and educators to c-suite executives. I also lead the creation and implementation, training and development initiatives, to ensure a high-performing and engaged workforce that reflects the museum's mission and values. I leverage my skills in recruiting, team leadership, intercultural and diversity studies, and human resources management to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and creativity at the Lucas Museum. I hold a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University, where I studied intercultural and diversity studies. I am fluent in English and Spanish, and have an extensive background in music, art and film. I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to the museum's visionary mission, as the Lucas Museum believes that visual story telling can connect us and help shape a more just society. As a seasoned human resources professional, I take pride in my prior experience at H&M, where my career in human resources began. During my tenure, I played a pivotal role in expanding recruitment efforts into new markets and served as a master trainer for the North American organization. Over the course of more than a decade at H&M, I led training initiatives encompassing leadership development, effective communication techniques, recruitment strategies, presentation skills, supervisory support in compliance with California law, and the revision of harassment/sexual harassment trainings to ensure their alignment with cultural sensitivities in emerging markets. Furthermore, I took the helm in spearheading sustainability initiatives as a Conscious Captain, where my responsibilities included fostering community initiatives for our staff. My commitment to sustainable equities and food justice, led me to achieve a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Ecornell and a Permaculture Certificate from EcoVersity. In this capacity, I actively supported the hands-on farming and cultivation of sustainable food systems, contributing to our collective efforts to create a more environmentally responsible and equitable future.
