About Lyssa Freese
I am an Assistant Professor at UC Irvine's Earth System Science Department. I research the intersection of climate and net-zero energy systems. I obtained my Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I studied atmospheric chemistry, climate physics, and environmental policy, and did my postdoctoral work at the Carnegie Institution for Science. I research the intersection of social and earth systems, evaluating the impacts of energy policy on climate, air quality, and subsequent health and equity outcomes. I am passionate about policy-oriented work, community-based science, and applications of systems modeling to solve important sustainability issues of the energy transition.
