M. Edward Cheeks, Ph.D, also known as Marcus, is an accomplished professional with multiple licenses and degrees in the PreK-12 education and counseling fields. Marcus has experience as a grant writer and reviewer, as well as working within state and federal grant development, implementation, and contractual processes. As a licensed administrator and guidance counselor, Marcus has demonstrated a commitment to helping students succeed at all levels. In addition, Marcus is a licensed ordained minister, which speaks to his passion for serving others and positively impacting people's lives.Marcus's educational achievements include a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi, an M.S. in Educational Guidance and Counseling from Jackson State University, and a B.S. in Humanities with an emphasis in Philosophy from Tougaloo College. Currently, Marcus serves as the Chief Program Officer at the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA), where he is responsible for managing program operations and leading various committees to achieve the association's strategic goals.
