About Maarten Segers

With over four years of work experience in the legal and insurance sectors, I have developed strong competencies in economic law, sensitive information handling, and business acumen. I am currently pursuing a Master of Laws in Economic Law at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where I hope to deepen my knowledge and broaden my network in this field. I am eager to join an organization that shares my passion for justice, innovation, and social impact, and that values diversity, collaboration, and client satisfaction. Until October 2020, I was a Claims Specialist at Solidaris Vlaanderen, a leading mutual insurance company in Belgium. In this role, I was responsible for handling claims for over 500 clients, working closely with private insurance companies, in-house lawyers, and medical experts. I applied my negotiation and conflict resolution skills to recover claims paid to clients, and my sensitive information skills to ensure confidentiality and compliance. Through this experience, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the Belgian social security system, the operation of private insurance, and the challenges and opportunities in the legal and insurance markets.
