About Maarten van Dijk

During my PhD I worked on the design and synthesis of peptide-based polymer constructs for pharmaceutical applications. In this study peptide and polymer chemistry were combined to synthesize novel (enzymatic) degradable polymers, particles and hydrogels. Beside synthesis, a major part of the research was focused on analysis of the synthesized polymer constructs and their degradation kinetics. After my PhD, I joined DSM on a biomedical materials project. This project involved the development of a microsphere based drug delivery platform for the sustained release of small molecule drugs and proteins for the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration. In 2012 I started as a formulation scientist at InGell Labs, working on thermosensitive gels and the newly developed liquid polymer platform for the delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Besides formulation work my tasks also included polymer synthesis, analysis, writing research proposals and supervise projects. In 2018 InGell Labs was acquired by InnoCore pharmaceuticals where I continued in my role as formulation scientist. Working on both the InGell and InnoCore technology.
