About Mabel Rodriguez
As some of you may or may not know I am here on behalf of the Monica Burguera Foundation. The Foundation was created in memory of Monica Burguera, a 20 year old girl who died in a boating accident in the 2006 Columbus Day Regatta. Many of us spend our weekends out on the water; whether you own a boat, or know someone that does, safe boating is critical to our community. Our objective is to raise funds to offer boater safety education pro-grams in order to decrease boating accidents. MBF currently offers free monthly boating safety classes in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 67 and 69. Classes are offered in English and Spanish and held at the foundation’s office and other locations throughout Miami-Dade. Since 2010, more than students have successfully completed the program.
