About MacArena Puig

Hello! I'm Macarena Puig, a recent graduate from San Francisco State University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, concentrated in Cell and Molecular Biology. With a strong academic foundation (Magna Cum Laude and Dean’s List) and hands-on lab experience, I'm deeply passionate about understanding the science behind human health, and using that knowledge to make a real difference in people’s lives. During my undergraduate studies, I gained hands-on experience with qPCR, CRISPR, Western blotting, and cell culture, while also developing skills in statistical analysis using R. My work as a research assistant with the Valliant Foundation allowed me to bridge biology with public health outreach, investigating the root causes of homelessness and providing direct support to underserved communities. Now, in this transitional period, I’m focused on strengthening my academic and clinical experience in preparation for medical school. I'm especially interested in how biology, compassion, and public health can come together in patient care. Let’s connect if you’re in the biomedical, clinical, or pre-medical space.
