About Maci Jacobson

Being a wife & and mother is my number one joy and my number one priority. When I'm not playing peek-a-boo or changing diapers, you can find me in my Neuroscience research lab studying ~how we work 🧠 in order to maximize that work ~ I’m passionate about my research that utilizes fMRI to study the neural networks of reward and motivation. I’m particularly interested in how social relationships, alcohol, and hormones affect the brain. Aside from school and research, I am a part-time member of the Support Services Team at Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) — an organization dedicated to fighting child exploitation and human trafficking worldwide. I do this because I will not be silent while modern-day slavery exists. I enjoy teaching and speaking at community, church, and school events. I teach/speak on the following topics: neuroscience, nutrition, motivation, goal setting, organization, and essentially anything that relates to utilizing what we know about the brain to better our lives. When I'm not doing research or volunteering at O.U.R, you'll find me learning the harmonica, French, Morse Code, computer programming, or the next hobby I try. I love neuroscience, health & wellness, sports (Go BYU!), spending time with my incredible & brilliant husband Trace, following and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and making art with gum wrappers (see gumwrappergirl.com).
