About MacKenzie Emery

Working towards my degree at Clemson University has given me many experiences that are applicable in the wildlife field. The most applicable classes that I have taken are wildlife management techniques, wildlife management and fisheries techniques. These classes have offered experiences such as animal trapping, darting, telemetry, mist netting, prescribed burning, land management, electrofishing, gill netting, identification, jaw bone aging, dove wing aging, etc. In my time at Clemson I not only took classes but worked two different jobs and worked on a creative inquiry. One of the jobs I held was a student assistant at the Morgan Poultry Center, Clemson University's chicken farm. This job gave me experiences in animal husbandry, euthanasia, and regular farm maintenance. The second job I held was a barista at Starbucks. Being a barista has given my customer service skills, problem solving skills and has strengthened my teamwork. In the creative inquiry that I'm currently working on we are analyzing the otoliths of Bartram's Bass to age and measure the growth of the individual throughout the years.
