About MacKenzie Maggio

As a current doctoral student, I am looking for a part-time job with flexible hours that can accommodate my schedule. I have a proven track record of leadership and academic excellence and these skills translate to any and every job opportunity I have been presented. I am a dedicated and passionate public health professional currently pursuing my PhD at the University of South Florida's College of Public Health. My area of study is in genomics and I am particularly interested in pregnancy-related conditions and improving birthing outcomes. My Masters thesis focused on the relationship between preeclamptic severity and placental methylation. I hope to continue this effort as a doctoral candidate, expanding upon additional epigenetic factors (i.e. parental effect, imprinting) that influence pregnancy-related conditions. I have many diverse and unique research experiences. I have participated in many research projects and efforts which have drawn upon both my strong background in molecular biology and my advocacy for health equity. Currently, I am a student assistant in the USF Social Epigenomics lab project where we are using stem cell technology to identify genetic and epigenetic predictors of stress-related mental disorders, with a particular focus on depression and post-traumatic stress. Additionally, I have collaborated on projects addressing racial disparities including the Black Infant and Maternal Mortality (BIMM) taskforce in Hillsborough county.
