About MacKenzie Vining

From the age of five, I have had a passion for providing quality care to animals through veterinary medicine. I distinctly remember my mother and I discussing my interests in school and I consistently stated my desire to pursue animal medicine. Thus, I began taking horse riding lessons at a local barn and realized my love for animals and animal welfare. Several years later, I accepted a position at this ranch where I was tasked with feeding and caring for clients' horses. This further deepened my desire to care for animals. After graduating high school, I applied to the Animal and Poultry Science Department at Virginia Tech where I am currently on the pre-veterinary track. I have been blessed with the opportunity to take horse riding lessons, work, and learn about numerous animal species. When I am not studying, I have had the opportunity to work as a veterinary assistant at a local veterinary clinic. I have experience with small animal handling, equine management, equine handling, and some experience with livestock management and handling. As I have expanded my knowledge of the animal world, I have fallen more in love with my future career and I am willing to put forth 110% to help those in need. Please join me on this journey as I pursue my dreams in becoming a large animal veterinarian and helping one patient at a time.
