About MacKenzie Young

I am a recent Mount Royal University graduate from the Sport and Recreation Management program minoring in Accounting and Financial Services. My professional experience in the field of sport and recreation spans over a few sports and specialties. Starting out as a swimmer in my local town of Fort McMurray I quicky realized my passion for winter sports such as Ringette. I both swam and played Ringette competitively for over 10 years. Throughout this time, I began coaching swimming starting with the youngest developing swimmers, aged 4-8, and moving towards pre competitive then competitive coaching. Along with coaching both pre competitively and competitively, I also helped to develop the Para Swim program with my local swim club. After my experience with the Para Swim program, I began to seek more programs associated with Para Sports or Adapted Sports. I came across the Alberta Sport and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) where I began volunteering with their SightNight Calgary which quickly turned into a practicum placement helping with program implementation and basic administrative tasks. I have always had a passion for promoting sport and recreation locally and I am excited to make connections and keep everyone staying active.
