About Maddie White

Maddie is a Regional Murrow and Emmy® Award-winning news anchor/reporter/MMJ. She is originally from San Diego and holds a Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. She is currently a news reporter and fill-in anchor at KING 5 (TEGNA) in Seattle, where she routinely brings the lead news story for weekday evening newscasts. As a determined truth seeker and storyteller, Maddie’s dedication to serving Washingtonians is evident in her reports on a variety of topics from crime, to technology, to consumer investigations. Previously at KVVU (Gray TV), she solo anchored the #1-rated weekend newscast in the market. As a reporter, she consistently brought high-quality investigative journalism and enterprise stories to Nevadans, especially in the topic of K-12 education. Formerly, Maddie anchored and reported for KIVI (Scripps) in Boise, Idaho, where she did day-turns, long-form, and also led a statewide franchise called The Rebound Idaho, which aimed to bring solutions journalism to viewers affected by the pandemic. Maddie has a demonstrated history of holding the powerful accountable. She is a proponent of public records and is constantly working on an investigative project or two, providing viewers across the state with advocacy, clarity and transparency. Her several years of experience working in the broadcast television industry have advanced her skills in on-camera script presentation, as well as adlibbing, non-linear editing, camera work, multimedia web stories, and more. She has won three Emmy® Awards, and two are for stories she MMJ'd. She’s been nominated for 7 total. Her work has sparked measurable impacts in the community, including a time when she MMJ'd a series about licensed, qualified teachers being mysteriously rejected from the nation's fifth-largest school district despite a critical staffing shortage (LINK: & t=254s). The Idaho Press Club has awarded Maddie's work in several categories, including Reporter of The Year (2020), Watchdog/Investigative (2019), and Best TV Writing (2019).
