Background
About Madeleine Bartlett
I graduated from Hamilton College this past May with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I have a strong desire to pursue a career working with children and teenagers struggling with their mental health, specifically in diagnosing and providing therapy to adolescents. I have spent my past two summers gaining experience in providing support to multiple different neurodivergent populations in a psychological setting. In 2023, I interned at The New England Center for Children and assisted a cohort of 5 Autistic boys in both academic lessons and activities of daily living to foster independence. I spent the summer of 2024 interning at Camp Starfish, where I taught life skills to a group of 14 neurodivergent teenagers as well as implemented proper verbal and physical behavior management skills to assist over 100 campers with disabilities. I strive to carry the skills I learned throughout both of these opportunities with me in my professional career and use the knowledge I gained to truly help make a difference in neurodivergent care. I recently presented my thesis research on the relationship between ADHD/Autism and Imposter Phenomenon in an undergraduate population at The Landmark College Summer Institute for Educators. I hope to publish this research so it can reach a wide audience of educators, allowing for them to provide a better educational opportunity for neurodivergent students. Currently, I am a member of the summer 2025 Children’s Corps cohort through Fostering Change for Children. I am receiving training on how to support and provide resources for children and families in the NYC child welfare system. Following my training, I will begin work at SCO Family of Services as a Foster Care Case Planner, where I can pursue my goal of helping children of all backgrounds have a safe childhood.
