About Madeleine Olson

Madeleine Olson is a Ph.D. Candidate in Latin American History at the University of Texas at Austin. Her dissertation,"For the Greater Good: Catholics and Anti-Protestantism in Mexico, 1939-1963" explores why and how religious differences became contentious and, in some instances, an impetus for violence in the central region of Mexico. Funded by the Council for American Overseas Research Center and the University of Texas at Austin, her research represents contributions to the fields of transnational history, modern Mexican history, Catholic history, and the history of religious pluralism in Latin America. In addition to her personal research, Madeleine has held positions with the Texas State Historical Association, LLILAS Benson Latin American Collection, UT Athletics, and UT’s Center for Undergraduate Studies. Presently, Madeleine works with UT-Austin’s Liberal Arts Instructional Teaching Services, where she collaborates with various professors across UT-Austin to transition their face-to-face curriculum to a digital format. She is fluent in Spanish, along with reading and writing proficiency in Latin. Find her on
