About Madelyn Rawlyk

A passionate climate scholar and early-career sustainable development professional, I specialize in corporate sustainability solutions and global environmental governance. I hold a Master's in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, University of Waterloo (June 2025), where my research focuses on the accounting sector and global climate governance. This work builds off my undergraduate research on climate change communication (Bachelor of Commerce (Hons), 2023) at the University of Saskatchewan, where I explored prairie climate advocacy strategies, now published in Sustainability Science. I've been proud to receive awards for my research including the SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship, the President's Graduate Scholarship from the University of Waterloo, and the Edwards Undergraduate Scholarship from the University of Saskatchewan. I'm currently applying my passion for climate advocacy as a Junior International Climate Policy Consultant at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Viet Nam, contributing to nature-based solutions and climate finance projects that aim to restore ecosystems and support community-led sustainable management models for enhanced climate resilience. I aspire to use my research and professional experience to drive meaningful advancements in global climate governance that center nature and vulnerable communities. Outside the office in Ha Noi, you can find me in the Crossfit gym, on the rugby pitch, or talking about my love for Saskatchewan and Ukrainian Canadian culture.
