About Madison Carter

I currently teach 8th grade social studies in the Spring-Ford Area School District! This will be my 10th year teaching. Prior to teaching 8th grade, I taught APUSH/American History at Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia. I also served as leader of the entire 10th grade staff and students. I was lead of our school’s social justice committee and a cosponser of the NHS committee where I am head of our school’s Mini-Thon. I created and facilitated a course on social justice with a STEM infusion during my first year at Imhotep. In addition, I am a certified yoga instructor and work with our sports teams. I earned my Master’s in Education from the University of Illinois with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion in education. I graduated (virtually) in December 2021. I hold a B.S. in Social Studies Secondary Education from the Pennsylvania State University. During my time at Penn State, I was placed within the Central Bucks School District at Unami Middle School as a student-teacher. I taught both 7th grade world history and 8th grade American history. I was involved with the school's Relay for Life and its Trowel and Plow gardening club. The gardening club eventually donates its yields to local food banks in the area. Beginning my sophomore year at, Penn State, I earned my substitute teaching certificate with the State of New Jersey. I had great opportunities while substitute teaching within the Phillipsburg School District. For instance, I was a long-term substitute for a teacher out on medical leave as well as had the opportunity to work with students of diverse ages and backgrounds.
