Background
About Madison Goodwin
College taught me how to write a resume and how to write a cover letter but it didn't teach me how to write a LinkedIn Summary. My internet research tells me to just be myself. so here goes nothin'! Growing up I had two passions- art and science. Art school was a little out of reach for me, so to school for science I went! Throughout school I had a few different jobs in an effort to figure out where I contributed best- I was a bookseller for Barnes and Noble (I love to read- my GoodReads '2023 Year in Books' has me at 36 books read, 18,086 pages!). Here I learned how to work both with a team and individually, the importance of organization, and most importantly the core values of Customer Service and individualized recommendations and support- I was a Research Assistant for the Kawahara Lab at the Florida Museum of Natural History- we mainly studied Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies). We travelled to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum to work on a phylogeny research project where I coordinated the organization of data for the project. Best of all, working at a museum led to many opportunities of outreach- My love for science led me to be an aspiring veterinarian, so I'd worked as both a Veterinary Technician and a Veterinary Assistant. In addition to caring for animals, I honed skills like fast problem-solving, creative thinking, and developing others (I created our first employee training manual while working for UF). Dabbling in each of these fields and then working as a College Planning Specialist for Fidelity Investments (where I helped educate clients on College Savings options) made me realize that it wasn't necessarily art or science that I gravitated towards. it was education and outreach! In each role I've held, the underlying piece I loved was developing others and sharing information. This helped lead me to my current role with Fidelity as a Learning Lead where I am able to make meaningful connections while delivering content (an added bonus is I get to flex both my creative and science sides when creating user experiences and when making data-driven decisions)!
