About Madison Hunt

I am a dedicated, patient-oriented doctor of optometry candidate at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. I became passionate about a career in optometry during the summer after my freshman year at East Tennessee State University; I started working as a technician at a private practice: East Tennessee Eye Care in Kingsport, Tennessee, and immediately fell in love with the profession and all that optometry provides to patients and optometrists alike. Through my experiences in the clinical setting starting in the summer of 2024 to present time, I have learned that communication skills are vital to a successful experience for the patient and the provider. Having the opportunity to work with other optometry students and with staff doctors has enhanced my collaborative skills and has prepared me for a successful career in the field of optometry, providing quality eye care to patients in my community. My academic performance has earned me a membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. I will complete an internship at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, and two externships at the Mountain Home V.A. in Johnson City, Tennessee, and Hillcrest Vision in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, during my fourth academic year.
