About Madison Kayal

I am Madison Kayal, a third year student at Duquesne University, majoring in English and History with a minor in political science. Throughout my academic career, I have maintained a 3.9 gpa and have regularly made the Dean’s List. I have honed my skills in critical and analytical thinking, attention to detail, and research competence, all of which I aim to apply in my legal career. In addition to my academic success, I am currently interning at Refuge for Women, a safe house that provides support for women who have been sex trafficked. Here, I use my analytical and critical skills, attention to detail, and research skills when I manage programs, update documentation and scheduling, as well as revise and create new policies and procures. Further, I audit files and charts and sit in on group therapy sessions, where I gain direct experiences with residents. While this hands-on experience has allowed me to understand the experiences of these residents, it also allowed me to witness the need for legal accountability in this area of law. Refuge for Women has inspired me to advocate for those who have been experienced human trafficking and domestic abuse. I am committed to using my academic and professional skills to help those who have been overlooked and ensure that these experiences are heard in the legal system.
