About Madison Pestey

A recent graduate of Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and a minor in History. I am a current graduate student at Salve Regina, pursuing a Master of Arts in International Relations, with an expected graduation date of May 2025. Currently, I work as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Yvan Ilunga. My research focuses primarily on United Nations peacekeeping missions, NGOs, diasporic groups, and other humanitarian-related subjects. In addition to being a graduate research assistant, I currently am interning with the U.S. Department of the Army, through the Southern European Task Force, Africa in research. My current work centers around researching insecurities and security concerns in The Democratic Republic of the Congo with a specific focus on human rights, internally displaced people, and gender violence in the ongoing humanitarian crisis. I am pursuing a career in foreign service, with a specific interest in humanitarian crisis response, peacebuilding, and genocide studies. I am valued for my communication skills and my ability to interact both on a personal and professional level. I am a highly motivated, organized, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual. I possess strong leadership skills and I am a positive role model to those around me.
