About Madison Touchton

I am an enthusiastic, detail-oriented professional with experience providing developmental, copy-editing, and proofreading feedback on scholarly and fiction manuscripts for publication, as well as internal and public-facing professional documents. My published editorial works include The Palgrave Handbook of Literature and Aging (Lipsomb and Swinnen, May 2024), for which I served as editorial assistant, and Images of Women and Gender Identity in John Marston's Plays (Senapati, October 2023), which I copy edited. I previously served four years as a writing tutor at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee and one semester teaching first-year composition as a Graduate Assistant at the University of South Florida. My editing experience also extends to web design through my work redesigning the website of the scholarly organization, the North American Network in Aging Studies. Throughout my editing work, I strive to help writers effectively express themselves and their ideas through the written word and tailor their writing to the given situation. I conferred a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in British and American Literature from the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USFSM) in December 2019. Graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA, I was on the Dean’s List six semesters, the Chancellor's List one semester, successfully completed USFSM’s Honors Program, and was awarded several college-wide prizes for literary criticism. I have taken courses in technical and professional writing, the history of rhetoric, composition instruction, research design and methodology, sociology, literary criticism, humanities, anthropology, and Spanish. My education and work experience helped me develop proficiencies in technical, professional, and scholarly writing, high- and low-level editing, critical thinking, and research.
