About Magdalen Hamilton

As a fifth year student studying international relations at UBC, my work and studies focus on wide-ranging subjects such as nationalism in a globalizing world, Indigenous issues and pedagogical approaches, and sustainable systems change. All of these issues return to a common theme of advocating for social justice and addressing persisting inequity in global power relations. I am interested in opportunities to further learn how to meaningfully implement decolonial pedagogical models in higher educational institutions, engage in climate activism, and advocate for social justice on an institutional level. This involves confronting disciplinary boundaries, diversifying curricula, challenging Euro-American hegemonic epistemologies, addressing colonial histories, and highlighting the survivance of Indigenous people who have lived and thrived on their lands since time immemorial. I welcome other changemakers, storytellers, activists, and creatives to connect in this vision!
