Have you ever gone through an experience that brought you and the people around you so much pain and shame? Twenty-four years ago, as a teenage girl born in Nigeria and brought to the UK for greener pastures. I was bullied because of my accent and desperately wanted to fit in and make friends. One thing led to another, and I became pregnant at 17. This brought so much pain to my parents, the church and the community around me. I was called all sorts of names and stopped singing in the choir, as I was told I was polluting the altar and had to marry the guy to rectify the shame. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to speak at various events and share my story of pain to purpose, from teenage mum to charity Founder and CEO, a leader in empowering young people and grassroots communities.
