About Mageed Yahia

As the WFP Director for the UAE office and Representative for the GCC Region, I am dedicated to driving impactful change and fostering strategic partnerships to enhance humanitarian operations in the region. Based in Dubai, I lead WFP operations' support and services, working closely with government entities, the private sector, and the public sector to address food insecurity and support vulnerable communities. With over thirty years of experience in the humanitarian field, I have a proven track record of leadership and innovation. During my tenure as WFP Representative, Country Director, and Emergency Coordinator in Jordan, I spearheaded the introduction and implementation of innovative technology-based solutions, such as Blockchain Technology, a Biometric Identification System (IRIS scan), and Hydroponic Containers. These initiatives have revolutionized the delivery of humanitarian assistance, ensuring greater efficiency and effectiveness. Prior to my role in Jordan, I served as Deputy Director of WFP Human Resources, where I led major projects transforming HR services and streamlining operations. I also served as Deputy Country Director for WFP Pakistan, where I achieved significant milestones, including securing multi-year in-kind contributions from the Government of Pakistan and responding to the 2010 floods. Throughout my career, I have worked in some of the most challenging environments, providing humanitarian assistance in areas devastated by conflict, genocide, famine, and natural disasters. My experience includes relief efforts in Lebanon, Rwanda, Burundi, Niger, Malawi, and Sudan, among others. I am passionate about leveraging my skills and expertise to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. I am committed to driving innovation, fostering strategic partnerships, and building sustainable solutions to address food insecurity and promote resilience in vulnerable communities.
