About Maggie McGee

The work I'm most proud of to date took place in 2022, when I began my position at The Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities as a Teen Tech Center Coordinator. In this position, I planned, launched, and operated the Richfield Middle School Best Buy Teen Tech Center. Throughout the process of getting the TTC up and running, I was in consistent communication and collaboration with three major partners. On top of this, I researched, ordered, set-up, and took inventory of the materials for the Teen Tech Center. The Best Buy Teen Tech Centers are essentially makers-spaces for students. As a Teen Tech Center Coordinator, I was encouraged to learn and teach softwares like Adobe Creative Suite, Scratch, Procreate, GarageBand, Oculus and Makey Makey. Additionally, I provided extensive access to the tactile art forms of painting, hand sewing, machine sewing, crocheting, knitting, sculpting, 3D printing pens, and beading. Alongside these disciples, I set up a studio where my students learned to record songs and podcasts, and play guitar, drums, bass. My job also required that I be able to work with and encourage middle school students to make projects they were passionate about. A great deal of relationship and community building skills were necessary for this job, along with conflict resolution, and compassion-based leadership. All in all, this job showed me my capabilities in corporate project planning, non-profit administration, middle-grade education, and student engagement.Looking back, I've always had a passion for empowering youth. One of my first jobs was as a Musical Theatre Instructor at Footlight's Dance Studio, where I taught two k-8 theatre classes. In it, I learned how to communicate well, plan work for myself, and teach effectively to a diverse age group.Throughout the 2018-19, I worked as an IPA Tutor for students with learning disabilities at the ITA Clinic at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. In this job I became certified to teach ITA English, and I learned how to effectively communicate and help young students read and write.As a Resident Assistant at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, I gained LGBTQ Safe Space Training, Alcohol and Drug Safety Training, and Mental Health First Aid Training. In this job, I learned to organize events, maintain a safe environment, deescalate high-emotion situations, and provide conflict resolution.Summer of 2020 I worked as an intern at Gemini Ink. In this position, I assisted in virtual writing workshops, contacted donors, advertised courses, and coordinated email correspondences.
