Background
About Maha Kamal
Maha was born in Aurora Colorado and is everything Colorado. She graduated with honors from the Smoky Hill High School International Baccalaureate program in 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Denver. Maha is a polyglot–she speaks several languages including English (her native tongue) Spanish and Urdu/Hindi. Maha is a Member of the CBA’s Family Law Section Executive Council (2022-2023) and the CBA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Executive Council (2022-2023). She is a big supporter of the arts and humanism. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Art Students League of Denver (ASLD) and as a trustee of the American Humanist Foundation. She also served on the Denver International Airport’s Art Selection Panel member (2021-2022) and is excited about the new and innovative pieces coming to the airport’s expanded Concourses A B and C! Maha no doubt is passionate about the work of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations and Access to Justice initiatives state-wide. She co-chairs the Paraprofessionals and Legal Services (PALS) Supreme Court subcommittee with the (ret) Hon. Angela Arkin helping bring the first limited licensure program to Colorado and sister states like Utah Arizona and Minnesota. (Colorado Matters interviewed her check it out!) The program is in its implementation phase. Maha continues her second term on the Colorado Bar Association’s Legislative Policy Committee (LPC) for the 2023 Session. She is a 2021-2022 Colorado Diverse Attorneys Community Circle (CODACC) fellow and one of its current fundraising chairs. She previously served as a 2019 fellow of the Colorado Bar Association’s Leadership Training (COBALT) program and its 2019-2021 Sessions Committee. She continues her fourth year as a member of the Continuing Legal and Judicial Education Committee (CJLE) of the Colorado Supreme Court and in the past represented the Denver Bar Association on the Colorado Board of Governors. SuperLawyers recognizes Maha as a Rising Star and Top Lawyer (2019 to 2023). She is also a three-time recipient of Denver’s 5280 Magazine Top Lawyer award (2021 2022 2023). In her spare time (when she has it) Maha loves international travel writing and studio art. She is currently working on her first short story collection.
