About Maha Othman
With over 25 years of experience across healthcare, research, and academia, I am a Clinical Pathologist and internationally recognized Hemostasis Specialist. I have led multidisciplinary research in both basic and translational science, and currently serve in several high-impact leadership and editorial roles: Editor-in-Chief, Current Opinion in Hematology Senior Editor, Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Editorial Board Member, Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH) Co-Lead, canVECTOR Basic & Translational Science Platform Board Member, International Society for Laboratory Hematology (ISLH) Chairman of the ISTH SSC on DIC Member of the board of director of KCHC I am a global leader in the diagnosis and management of Platelet-type von Willebrand Disease (PT-VWD), and a passionate advocate for advancing hemostasis testing, especially through the use of thromboelastography in pregnancy complications and cancer-associated thrombosis. My research spans over 130 peer-reviewed publications, contributing both to scientific discovery and the scholarship of teaching and learning. As an educator, I’m known for creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences. My students often describe me as enthusiastic, energetic, and deeply invested in their success. I’ve also contributed to institutional accreditation and served on the Senate Committee on Academic Procedures, demonstrating a sustained commitment to academic quality.
