About Maher Farea

With a strategic vision and a commitment to systemic change, I, Maher Farea, bring over 14 years of dedicated leadership in child protection across the most volatile regions of the world including Yemen, Nigeria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Gaza, and South Sudan. Currently enriching my technical and policy expertise through a Master’s in Climate and Sustainability, I aim to integrate environmental resilience into sustainable humanitarian practices. At the helm of initiatives with MICRO-FINANCE INSTITUTION, USAID, and UNICEF, I have directed programs that both challenge and change the status quo of child protection. My leadership has catalyzed the mobilization of over $20 million, directly enhancing the scope and effectiveness of global child safety nets. My efforts have successfully secured the release and rehabilitation of over children involved in armed conflicts and transformed war-impacted schools into thriving educational centers. Serving as the first acting Officer for the Chief of Section and as the acting Chief of Field Office, I have orchestrated critical UN verification missions and led inter-agency technical task forces that crafted cross-sectoral collaborations, significantly boosting service delivery and policy impact for at-risk populations. My approach combines ground-level intervention with high-level strategic advocacy, enabling me to foster organizational innovation and adaptability. This dual focus ensures that our operations not only meet immediate needs but also contribute to long-lasting systemic changes. My background in microfinance and development provides a strong foundation in socio-economic analysis, enhancing my capability to develop comprehensive strategies that address the roots of vulnerability.
