Versatile biochemical and neurobiological scientist with comprehensive disease biology expertise, specially neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Down syndrome (DS) and epilepsy. A handful experience working on proteomics, signaling pathways, neuronal and glial cells biology, glutamate receptors in animal models of different neurological disorders. Experience investigating the effects of drugs such as NMDA receptor antagonists- Memantine and MK-801, GABA antagonist- MRK-016 and mTOR inhibitor, Rapamycine on disease animal models. Four years working experience in the industry investigating the antigen-antibody and protein-protein interactions by Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). Expertise in using the high throughput proteomics techniques of Reverse Phase Protein Arrays (RPPA), identified abnormalities in MAPK, MTOR and other signaling pathways in brain regions of mouse models of Down syndrome and epilepsy. Technical expertise in Reverse Phase Protein Array (RPPA), Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) for antigen- antibody interaction, Immunohistochemistry, SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis, ELISA, PCR, qPCR, DNA sequencing, Northern blot analysis and related molecular biology techniques, Microdialysis, Fluorescence Spectrophotometry, Microscopy, Enzyme/Protein purification techniques, HPLC, various enzyme assay methods. Animal handling and experiments: Proper animal (mouse and rat) care, handling and euthanasia, dissection of tissues in central nervous system (CNS), stereotaxic brain surgery, microinjection and microdialysis of rat brain regions, dissection of peripheral tissues from mouse, hippocampal brain slices for in vitro drug testing, Contextual Fear Conditioning- a hippocampal based learning and memory test. Cell culture work: Experienced working with Lymphoblastoid Cell Lines from Down syndrome (DS), DS plus Alzheimer’s disease patients and controls human.
