About Mahmoud Moustafa

Mahmoud is Chemical Process Engineer (18 years’ experience), approved by the TÜV Rheinland institute as functional safety engineer which is a prestigious certificate in the Process hazard & Risk assessment field. Mahmoud has seventeen years of experience in process/operations technical support hands-on advanced process control APC, DCS, ESD, PLC, simulation & optimization, flow assurance, project management, upstream & downstream feasibility/Conceptual studies, FEED, DDE, including pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of process & utilities units in the oil, gas & petrochemical industries. My career began with Foster Wheeler FW, while working with Foster Wheeler I worked on a complex 3 rd generation refinery (MIDOR Refinery with a capacity of BPD) with focus on Hydro-processing units such as Hydrocracking, Diesel, Naphtha & Kerosene Hydro-desulfurization, Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU & TGT) & amine systems. My experiences with MIDOR allowed me to build a reputable technical background which is why I was appointed to a high level decision making committee to manage the project life cycle of E-LAB Petrochemical complex in terms of control design and implementation, FAT, SAT and start-up for process units which utilizes SR Kerosene in producing linear alkyl-benzene,(including UOP & Shell technologies for N-Paraffin’s, Hydro-sulfurization, Aromatic & Alkylation plant). Then I was employed with ORYX GTL, QP-SASOL J.v, Qatar, which is a first of its kind-integrated energy company, globalizing premium, environmentally, friendly gas to high value liquid products GTL. During my time at ORYX GTL my specialization was formed while working within the Refinery & Gas loops, particularly as Sr. Process engineer on the Syngas ATR, H2 production, Hydrocracking and GTL’s Tail gas reprocessing units. Also, I have been appointed as Lead Process Definition & Concept Engineer at US GTL & Uzbekistan GTL projects (≥$11 Billion scale). Then, I have been employed by Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC)-formerly BP Sharjah. At SNOC, I was working as Process Engineering Lead with responsibilities of Process Engineering Technical authority (Process Safety TA) for the Sajaa Gas Asset from Production wells through LPG & Condensate facilities (Well bore to SBM production management), currently, I manage the process safety and loss Prevention account in SOCAR Azerbaijan
