About Mahsa Hakimara

As an entomological ecologist with a background in biosystematics, I am passionate about understanding the intricate relationships between insect herbivores and their host plants in forest ecosystems. Currently a doctoral student at Concordia University, I am focused on exploring the biodiversity and distribution patterns of insect herbivores and defoliators in temperate forest ecosystems, with a particular emphasis on sugar maple-dominated forests. Through my research, I hope to shed light on the critical role that insect herbivores play in these ecosystems and to develop strategies for more effective forest management. With my background in biosystematics, I am well-equipped to identify and classify insect species and have experience in creating taxonomic keys. Additionally, I have a teaching certificate, which has helped me to develop effective communication skills and a passion for sharing my knowledge with others. Overall, I am dedicated to advancing our understanding of forest insect herbivore biology, ecology, and taxonomy. By applying my research to real-world forest management issues, I hope to make a positive impact on the future of our planet's forests.
