About Mailynn Lam

Hi, I'm Mai! I’m an incoming Master of Public Administration student with a heart for service and a drive to create meaningful change. My experiences as a Vietnamese-American woman, raised by a single mother, deeply shape how I approach public work—with empathy, intentionality, and a strong belief in equity. Over the years, I’ve worked alongside nonprofit teams, educators, and university leadership to uplift communities in ways that are both practical and people-centered. While serving at Little Passengers, I helped grow the organization’s reach, build sustainable partnerships, and fundraise to support children in South America. At FIU, I support directors by improving operations, strengthening compliance, and contributing to initiatives that benefit both the university and surrounding community. My passion lies in creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered. Whether I’m teaching English to Afghan students, coordinating community events, or building systems that improve public services, I’m always focused on impact that lasts. I’m currently looking forward to starting my MPA and continuing to grow in roles that allow me to bridge policy, service, and opportunity.
