About Maitri Fischer

I grew up in Bali. Ive lived here for 30+ years. I saw, firsthand, the tension between rapid tourism growth and the fragility of the natural systems and culture that make this place so special. That experience shaped what I do today. At Eco‑Mantra, I work with developers and hospitality operators who want to build something they’ll still be proud of decades from now. Not just beautiful properties, but places that respect the land they’re built on, strengthen local communities, and operate with far fewer resources. We take a whole‑system approach to development—looking at site, microclimate, energy, water, waste, ecology, and community impact as one interconnected system. From the first design decision through to operations, the goal is simple: create destinations that work with nature, not against it. What I’ve learned over the past decade is that sustainability is not a constraint—it’s a design opportunity. When done right, it leads to properties that are more resilient, more efficient, and ultimately more valuable. Lower resource consumption means real financial returns, but more importantly, it creates places that resonate with guests and stand the test of time. I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most forward‑thinking developers and hospitality brands in the region, including Mandarin Oriental, Waterbom Bali, Potato Head, The Datai, Alila, and Green School. Each project is a chance to push the industry a little further toward a new standard. I bring over a decade of experience working across Indonesia, supported by a background in Hydrology (M.Sc. Utrecht University) and Geosciences (B.Sc. Jacobs University Bremen). If you’re developing a resort or destination and want to build it right—from the ground up—I’m always open to that conversation.
